Description:
Join Canadian folk musician Ian Tamblyn and 11 other guests on a fully guided & outfitted musical tour by 36 ft Voyageur Canoe from Rossport to the "Live from the Rock" Folk Festival in Red Rock, Ontario. This fast, stable, 36ft voyageur canoe is perfect for those looking to experience Lake Superior in a unique way.
This trip combines beautiful scenery, a unique mode of travel, good food and each evening a remote campsite folk serenade from our musician. Paddlers are also welcome to bring along their voices, instruments and inspiration. Since we are all in the same stable canoe, this trip is suitable for folks with little paddling/camping experience.
The Red Rock Folk Festival www.livefromtherock.com is a three-day event celebrating music and the arts on Superior's north shore. Historically, the Voyageurs, their canoes and the fur trade have played a mighty role in the Canadian character. These themes are prevalent in Canadian folk music and will be experienced at the Live from the Rock Folk Festival.
Paddling highlights of the trip include the Battle Island Lighthouse, sea caves, a sauna at the remote CPR slip, a morning hike for a panoramic view and a tobacco offering at the pictographs on the cliffs by the Nipigon River.
Your guides have advanced wilderness first aid and guide certifications. They know the route, and safety is their primary concern. They are also wonderful wilderness chefs and "on trip" meals are healthy, fresh and delicious (no freeze dried stuff here!)
Folk festivals and folk musicians, Voyageurs and Voyageur Canoes, Lake Superior and raw powerful landscapes are quintessential Canadian experiences. This unique trip puts them all together into one annual package.
